The Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Power Authority, Fred Oware, has been adjudged the 2020 Energy Personality of the Year at the 4th Ghana Energy Awards, the most prestigious title of the awards.
The Bui Power Authority also won the Clean Energy Initiative of the Year and the Energy Company of the Year (Renewable). This is the second year running the Authority has won the Energy Company of the Year (Renewable).
The event was chaired by the Akwamumanhene of the Akwamu Traditional Area, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, GEA 2020 and attended by the energy industry players and several representatives of government, various heads of organisations and the diplomatic corps; including the Economic Counselor at the US Embassy, Hagen Maroney, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ghana, Mr Kim Sungsoo as well as Dorothee Dinkelaker from the German Embassy, Arndt Wierheim, Director KFW and Vanessa Eidt, Portfolio manager of KFW.
Dr Kwame Ampofo, Chairman of the 2020 GEA Awarding Panel noted that the awards scheme was “instituted to recognize the hard work of industry practitioners and reward outstanding ones for meritorious service to the country and its people”.
In a speech read on his behalf, the Minister of Energy, John-Peter Amewu, expressed appreciation for the resilience of stakeholders in the sector.
