BPA DONATES LABORATORY EQUIPMENT TO BONGASE HEALTH CENTRE

The Bui Power Authority has donated laboratory equipment worth Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC15,000) to the Bongase Health Centre to improve the healthcare services within the communities within the Bui Generating Station (BGS) enclave.

The equipment comprised pregnancy and malaria test kits, microwave, refrigerator, thermometers and other equipment to stock a laboratory centre constructed by the Bongase community. The aim of the gesture is to ensure commencement of health delivery services.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ing. Anthony Boye Osafo-Kissi, presented the equipment to the Banda District Director of Health, Mr. Simons Adams. Also present at the ceremony were the Honorable Member of Parliament for the Banda Constituency, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, the District Chief Executive Officer of the Banda District Assembly, Madam Mary Koney, the Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Belt Development Authority, Mr. Joe Danquah, the Bongase Traditional Leaders and some community members.

Speaking at the ceremony at Bongase in the Banda District of the Bono Region, the Deputy Director, General Services Department of the BPA, Mr. Salifu Wumbilla, said improving the health and well-being of people around the dam site was a priority. He explained that the BPA and the Banda District Health Directorate undertook health assessment impact, to identify the immediate health needs of the communities in 2015 and since then the Authority had been providing support to address the situation. He assured that the Authority was committed to helping improve on the socio-economic livelihoods of the people who were directly or indirectly affected by the BGS. 

The Banda District Director of Health, Mr. Simons Adams, thanked the BPA for its continuous support in making life better for the people. He assured that the equipment will be put to good use and maintained well.
