On February 29, 2024, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu, officially commissioned the Forward Operating Base (FOB) at the Bui Generating Station. This strategic installation, funded and constructed by Bui Power Authority (BPA), represents a crucial milestone in our ongoing efforts to address potential security threats to BPA-acquired lands.
During the ceremony, the CEO of Bui Power Authority, Honorable Samuel Kofi Ahiave Dzamesi, who was represented by the Deputy CEO, Ing. Emmanuel Tandoh, reiterated the significance of the FOB construction, in line with the Authority’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding the security and integrity of the Bui enclave. Underlining the paramount objectives of this endeavor, emphasis was placed on the preservation of law and order within the BGS enclave, the protection of critical national assets, and the assurance of the residents’ well-being. The establishment of the FOB is a tangible manifestation of the Authority’s commitment to these fundamental principles.
The Base is equipped with essential facilities such as an administrative block, guard house, mess facility, and regulatory center, all serving to support operational functions and enhance effectiveness. These amenities ensure coordination of activities, security, dining provisions, regulatory compliance, and overall infrastructure fortification, enabling the Base to fulfill its crucial role efficiently.
The construction of the FOB commenced in April 2021 with the successful completion of Phase 1 in December 2023. The occasion was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Bono Regional Minister, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, the Chief of the Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics at the General Headquarters, DCE of Banda, Directors and Staff of BPA, Chief of Bui, Paramount Chief of Bole (Bole Wura), Paramount Chief of Banda, Paramount Chief of Jama, and other traditional rulers within the enclave.
