Bui Power Authority Commissions and Hands Over 6-Unit Classroom Block to Anloga-Avete D.A Basic School

Bui Power Authority as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility has donated a six-unit, two-story classroom block with ancillary facilities to the Anloga-Avete D.A Basic School in the Volta Region.

The newly constructed facility, located at the Anloga-Avete D.A Basic School, was commissioned on Friday, March 15, 2024 in a ceremony attended by the District Chief Executive of Anloga, Hon. Seth Yormewu, traditional and community leaders, educators, students, parents and a delegation from Bui Power Authority, led by Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Samuel Kofi Ahiave Dzamesi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon Dzamesi emphasized the authority’s dedication to supporting education in the region. He highlighted the importance of providing modern and comfortable learning spaces for students, stating, “Investing in education is investing in the future of our communities and we are committed to ensuring that students have the best facilities to excel in their studies.”

The CEO, revealed that the Anloga District has the highest wind speeds capable of generating electricity which could be fed into the national grid. “In view of this, BPA will explore the development of wind energy through the God-given wind resource in the district which will make the district sufficient in power and create jobs as well” he added.

The six-unit classroom block is equipped with modern amenities, including well-furnished classrooms and contemporary restroom facilities. The design, which incorporates elements of sustainability is disability friendly, with ample natural lighting and ventilation to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.


The event was also graced by Torgbui Zewu III, representing Torgbui Sri III, Awoamefia of the Anlo State, who expressed gratitude to BPA for their generous contribution. Hon. Seth Yormewu, Chief Executive of the Anloga District Assembly, appealed for additional support such as furniture and a computer laboratory, while commending BPA for their gesture.

Dominic Dzanado, Anloga District Director of Education, in his comments, gave his assurance that the school would be maintained as a model institution, enhancing teaching and learning.

The commissioning of the classroom block, which began construction on March 9, 2023, marks a significant milestone for the school and highlights BPA’s commitment to supporting education and community development through sustainable projects.
