Bui Power Authority Welcomes Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy for Familiarization Visit

The Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Tuesday September 30, hosted the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy for a familiarization visit to provide first-hand insight into its operations. The visit is in accordance with a letter received by the Authority from the committee, requesting the visit, as part of its oversight responsibilities.

Representing the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Deputy CEO (Engineering Operations and Technical), Ing. Samuel Nimako-Boateng, welcomed the committee. He expressed appreciation for their visit and hoped the engagement would provide valuable insight into BPA’s operations, strengthen collaboration, and build strategic partnerships to support the energy sector’s growth.

The committee received was given a presentation showcasing BPA’s work plan, highlighting the significant progress achieved to date, and underscoring the Authority’s strategic commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in its future direction.

In his opening remarks, the Acting Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Albert Nyakotey Tetteh, emphasized that the visit was a fact-finding opportunity for the committee. He noted that the insights gathered would help inform their decision-making and drive the sector forward, with BPA being a key stakeholder.

Ing. Samuel Nimako-Boateng, along with BPA’s directors, responded to a range of questions, offering valuable information to ensure Parliament is well-informed about the Authority’s operations.

The committee also toured BPA’s operational facilities, including the 404MW hydroelectric dam, the 100MWp land-based solar farm, and the 5MWp floating solar farm.

In his remarks after the tour, Hon. Ibrahim Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Banda and a member of the committee, expressed his appreciation for the visit. He commended BPA for its ongoing efforts, particularly in advancing its renewable energy mandate.
