Brigadier General Martin Owusu-Ababio (Rtd.) is a retired army officer who served in the Ghana Armed Forces for over forty years. In 2019, he joined Bui Power Authority as the Security Coordinator.

Born in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Brigadier General Owusu-Ababio received his basic education in Kumasi and the Eastern Region. He attended Prempeh College for his secondary education, where he obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates.

In 1974, he enlisted in the Ghana Military Academy and underwent basic military training. Upon completion, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Infantry Corps with a Diploma in Military Science.

Throughout his military career, Brigadier General Owusu-Ababio held various command and staff positions, including serving as a Platoon Commander and Battalion Second-in-Command.

He also served as the Commanding Officer of the Jungle Warfare School in Akim Achiase from 1996 until late 1997, after which he was posted to 3 Battalion of Infantry in Sunyani where he served, again as Commanding Officer until January 2001.

Brigadier General Owusu-Ababio exemplifies outstanding leadership abilities and possesses a wealth of international peacekeeping expertise, at Platoon and Battalion Command levels. He is a PSC qualified officer from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

Furthermore, he has a Master of Science (MSc) degree in War Studies from the prestigious Royal College of Defense Studies in London and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Studies from Kings College London.

Throughout his career, Brigadier General Owusu-Ababio held several notable appointments, including Deputy Director General of Defense Intelligence, Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at Army Headquarters, Brigade Commander at the United Nations level in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Deputy Commandant at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center.

He retired from active service in 2015 and is married with three children and eight grandchildren.
