Ing. Kwaku Sarpong AKOSA
Director, Engineering Services
Ing. Kwaku Sarpong AKOSA is a Civil Engineer with over fifteen years of varied experience in power project planning and implementation, contract administration, and occupational health and safety.
Ing Akosa currently occupies the position of Director, Engineering Services Department at the Bui Power Authority, a state-owned utility provider in Ghana.
He had his secondary certificate from St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); MSc in Energy & Environmental Management from the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom; MSc in Renewable Energy Technologies from KNUST, Ghana.
He began his career with the Department of Urban Roads and Tahal Alpha Consult. He later joined the BPA in 2008, where he led a team of Engineers with varied experience to undertake the implementation as Owners Engineers for a 404MW hydro-generating facility in Bui, Banda Region, Ghana.
He has been involved in other projects, including the 60MW hydro-generating facility in Hemang to the detailed design stage; 250MW hydro-solar-hybrid project in Bui; the 45kW Tsatsadu Micro Generating Project located in the Volta Region, and the 1MW Floating Solar PV Project located in Bui.
Amongst his leadership positions, Ing Akosa served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority for six years, Design Coordinator for the Bui Hydroelectric Project, Corporate Transport Administrator, and Manager, Planning Monitoring and Evaluation.
He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and holds NEBOSH HSE Certification as well.
