The Acting Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Mr. Edward Obeng Kenzo, paid a working visit to the Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. His visit aimed to introduce and familiarize himself with BPA’s operations, and explore avenues for stronger collaboration between the two institutions, both of which play key roles in Ghana’s energy sector.

The meeting, held at the Head Office in Accra, was chaired by Deputy CEO of Finance, Madam Jemima Fayah, and Deputy CEO of Engineering, Operations, and Technical, Mr. Emmanuel Tandoh. Some Management and Staff of BPA were also present to give the CEO a warm reception. They discussed BPA’s general operations and explored areas of mutual interest, focusing on potential collaborations to support the goals of both institutions.

Mr. Edward Obeng Kenzo expressed his appreciation for BPA’s warm reception and commended the Authority’s contributions to Ghana’s renewable energy sector. He emphasized the need to prioritize Nuclear Power Generation, a subsidiary of both BPA and VRA, as a key step toward enhancing Ghana’s energy mix. He highlighted the importance of nuclear power in providing a stable, low-carbon, and cost-effective energy source to support the country’s growing electricity demand and to strengthen Ghana’s energy security, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and position itself as a leader in sustainable power generation. The courtesy visit reinforced the importance of synergy between energy sector players in achieving national energy goals. Both BPA and VRA affirmed their commitment to working together, tackling industry challenges, and leveraging opportunities to strengthen Ghana’s power infrastructure. The meeting ended on a positive note, with both institutions expressing optimism for future collaborations that will shape the next phase of Ghana’s energy transformation.
